Moving giants: engine components from MAHLE
Pistons, piston pins and rings, as well as cylinder liners from MAHLE are the driving force for powerful engines used in marine applications, construction and industry, power generation, and railway transportation. Our innovative products contribute to making these applications safer, more comfortable, more friendly for the environment and more economical.
Power generation
Cogeneration systems supply greenhouses with artificial light, heat, and CO2. The carbon dioxide contained in the exhaust gases is used to fertilize the greenhouses. The generated energy can be supplied to the local grid.
Diesel and gas engines run emergency power units for power plants or biogas plants. Fermented grass, cereals, and other renewable resources produce biogas, which can be used to fuel gas engines. The generated energy can be fully transmitted to the local grid. The energy obtained from the exhaust gases can be used for steam generation or the drying of cereals.
Marine applications
Passenger ships, ferries, yachts, cargo vessels—they all use large engines as their main and auxiliary propulsion. Our company supplies engine components for these applications and is a market leader in this field: almost all high-speed ferries around the globe are equipped with MAHLE pistons.
Railway traffic
In railway traffic, diesel engines are employed as drive systems for locomotives and rail cars and, at the same time, serve the purpose of power generation in the rail car.
Construction & industry
Diesel engines for construction vehicles and industrial applications such as dump trucks are powered by MAHLE components.
